With the vast majority of incoming 911 calls coming from cell phones, location information can be delayed, inaccurate, or unreliable.  Some situations prevent callers from speaking, further delaying obtaining location and call type information.

To help combat this, Wilson County 911 has partnered with Smart911.  This is a tool that our telecommunicators can utilize to improve E911 location, allows for dispatcher- initiated text, Smart911 caller monitoring, searchable critical infrastructure database, and enables our telecommunicators to locate callers and their  critical information, getting responders initiated more quickly.

When it comes to emergencies, time is of the essence.  Information provided by Smart911 to telecommunicators and responders allows for a better response.  Smart911 provides our community with the resources to help prepare for the worst.  Personal data, facility and location information, and enhanced chat capabilities for 911 telecommunicators can be critical pieces of information.  Delayed, inaccurate, or unreliable mobile data is an issue for call centers nationwide.  Smart911 integrates RapidSOS to give call takers more accurate location information.

A complete Smart911 profile provides responders with the information to respond more quickly and efficiently.  Profile information is portable to areas utilizing this technology.

Some of the information that can be put into your safety profile include, but is not limited to, medical conditions, seniors and elderly care, general emergencies, physical disabilities, pets and service animals, and vehicle information.  A profile may be made for an individual or for the entire household.
